Ever since founding Pink Tartan in 2002, Kimberley Newport-Mimran has been Canada's fashion darling. The label continues to grow, stocked in Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue in the United States, Holt Renfrew and the Bay in Canada, and at numerous stores around the world.

Alina Kulesh gains some insight from Newport-Mimran on her AW'13 collection and the keys to surviving fashion week in this Five x Five interview for The Genteel.

1. Who is the Pink Tartan woman?

A modern woman with sophisticated taste.

2. Each season Pink Tartan re-invents classics that aim to take you from work to dinner. What's the key to doing this seamlessly?

I love creating and sourcing fabric to design pieces for my collection, this is the starting point of my collections.

3.What inspired your A/W 2013 collection?

This season the collection is inspired by "American Horror Story" and Hitchcock feel. My muse: a young Jessica Lange - "nothing is what it seems."

4. Mysterious! Rumour has it you are quite the perfectionist and have a keen eye for detail, which we believe aids in the precise tailoring of your garments. What other characteristics do you possess that help you in your work?

Persistence and determination have helped me push through this crazy business called fashion.

5. Things you can't live without during World Mastercard Fashion Week Toronto?

Cell phone, green juice, and my fabulous team support.
